From the start, it was clear that preserving and enhancing the home’s Victorian architecture was essential. Aside from a few structural openings to create a more open space, we retained key original features—including stained-glass windows, wooden flooring, doors, architraves, and the conservatory structure. Rather than replacing these timeworn elements, we treated them with black resin, a bold choice that added depth and character without darkening the space. The distressed finish introduced warmth and texture while staying within budget.
A distinctive feature of British interiors is wallpaper, but instead of applying it traditionally, we chose to “paper” the flooring. The narrow entrance corridor leading to the conservatory was clad in a striking pattern of colorful marble, creating a bold first impression.
The conservatory is a lush retreat—an intimate winter garden with views of the manicured lawn. A bamboo sofa adds a retro touch, balanced by contemporary coffee tables and an oversized mobile chandelier that sways gently with the breeze.
In the living area, a statement bronze-layered chandelier takes center stage, reflected beautifully in the oversized mirror above the fireplace.
The kitchen blends tradition and modernity, featuring a bespoke classic design with the original Aga oven, contrasted by a bold round cement table.
The home’s three distinctly styled bedrooms showcase a mix of patterns, colors, and curated furnishings.
Across the project, we embraced unexpected materials and bold combinations, blending classic British influences with a glamorous, eclectic aesthetic. A carefully curated mix of antique and contemporary design pieces—such as the Gae Aulenti lamp, Utrecht armchair by Cassina, and sculptural vases by Bose—creates a layered, cohesive look.
Throughout, design pieces and curated antiques—some inherited, others sourced from markets—add history and personality. Notable details include the floral chair in the living room, the map-covered wall, and a striking modern painting in the kitchen. Bespoke furniture, from the mirrored coffee table to the soft pink dining table and custom headboards, further enhances the home’s uniqueness.
The result is an interior that seamlessly balances heritage and innovation, tradition and contemporary flair—a home full of personality, warmth, and individuality.
